Calories not clearly shown on labels/menus rant!!!

Something that really bothers me is that exact calories are not clearly shown on the front of food packaging and still not printed on food menus. There are a lot of menus and labels where it is shown and fair play to them but really in this day and age when obesity is seen everywhere, how can they not?

Maybe restaurants think people won't eat their food if they knew the amount of calories but seriously they need to own up and let people know what they are consuming. It's the same with food package labelling, people today are more health conscious, they count calories, pro-points or syns so help them out a little.

Since I started my weight loss journey I have been looking for healthier alternatives to the food I was eating. Many times I have read the nutritional content on the packaging wrong and ended up way over my calorie limit as the calorie content was misleading. It's very frustrating when you think you are doing good and then realise you messed it up. Thank god for MyFitnessPal or I would never have known.

I pretty sure I seen something on-line about trying to have calories shown on menus in Ireland as a regulation. This would be amazing!!

Any thoughts on this?
